TOP HOLLYWOOD MOVIES THAT SHOW THE EXTENT OF POLICE BRUTALITY ON BLACK AMERICANS IN THE U.S

    

Huge riots began in Minneapolis on May 26,2020, after the death of George Floyd while being restrained by officers of the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD).  Protests began peacefully, but later built up as stores were  looted and destroyed. 

     The peak of the now riot came at around 11:00 pm, as protesters overran the police building in Minneapolis and set it ablaze, after it had been evacuated a short time previously.

      There have been so many clashes between police and the U.S citizens especially those of the black community and just as many stories told about it in Hollywood. Today's post,we view some of the best ones ranging from True stories to exaggerated ones and fiction, and links have been included for your download pleasure. 

      I couldn't rank any of them cause they're all brilliant piece of filmmaking but I would say the last on this list is my favorite. Enough talk, let's begin!!!

      First on our list, is "THE HATE U GIVE" which is a 2018 film that tells the story of Starr Carter(Amandla Stenberg) who on a night out ends up being the only witness to the murder of her childhood friend,Khalil, by a Police officer who mistook the hair-brush he had with him as a gun.  Critics describe this film as " a powerful& racially charged film that addresses pervasive battles along color lines & economic strata". Next on our list is "Queen and Slim" which is an emotional tale about how a  first date takes an unexpected turn when a policeman pulls them over for a minor traffic violation. When the situation escalates, Slim takes the officer's gun and shoots him in self-defence. Now labelled cop killers in the media, Slim and Queen feel that they have no choice but to go on the run and evade the law. When a video of the incident goes viral, the unwitting outlaws soon become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people all across the country.       Another is "Fruitvale station" which  is a true life story that sees a young Micheal .B. Jordan play the role of Oscar Grant who is now trying hard to live a clean life and support his girlfriend (Melonie Diaz) and young daughter (Ariana Neal). Flashbacks reveal the last day in Oscar's life, in which he accompanied his family and friends to San Francisco to watch fireworks on New Year's Eve, and, on the way back home, became swept up in an altercation with police that ended in tragedy.  Download link ; fzmovies.net/movie-Fruitvale%20Station--hmp4.htm

      "Just mercy" is another Michael•B• Jordan movie our list that follows the struggles and trials of his character as a recent law graduate who lives home to defend another black man(Jamie fox) who has served years for a murder the town swears he committed.        Last on the list and definitely not the least as it's my favourite is this short series called "WHEN THEY SEE US" which is an emotional pound of a series that tells the true life story of five black American teenagers who on night out in the park are arrested by the police and accused of the brutal rape and murder of a white woman. The series will leave you sad and definitely angry as it follows the boys arrest, interrogation, trial and the fallout from each of their families.
